Hello again.
First, an apology for disappearing. My summer vacation accidentally stretched into a full year. Part of the reason is that I’m a painfully slow, self-aware writer, and this newsletter somehow became more about explaining my work than making it.
In the past year offline I made a 44-page comic, built a darkroom in my bathroom, experimented with zines, animation, music and a dozen other things.
I’ve been trying to figure out where I want to go next as an artist. The answer, at least for now, is pretty simple.
I do my best work when I’m making one little thing each day and following my curiosity wherever it leads.
So I’m returning to Paper Films with a different approach. Instead of weekly essays, I’ll be sharing a monthly film assembled from fragments of my studio practice and everyday life.
